Joseph Smith Jr. was not a Prophet because the Prophets ended with the Bible. The Bible nowhere claims that Prophets ended with the Old Testament or the Apostles of Jesus. Nowhere. Does not exist.
Joseph Smith Jr. had a very bad reputation as a liar and deceiver, a drunkard, and a worker of Black Magick. Those claims are found in the Hurlburt Affidavits, which many historians, Mormons and non-mormon, suspect were written by Philastus Hurlburt, an ex-Mormon who was excommunicated for fornication, and then vowed revenge against Joseph Smith. The language of the affidavits reveal they were written by one man and thus many suspect they were written by Hurlburt himself as a way to discredit Joseph Smith; to get back at the man who publicly humiliated him by publicly excommunicating him for fornication while a missionary.
