The Book of Mormon condemns unauthorized practices of plural marriage. It says in the book of Jacob, in The Book of Mormon:
Anti-Mormon Claim: The Book of Mormon teaches against Polygamy
"For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none; For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts. Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes. For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things."(Jacob 2:27-30.)The Lord is saying: Do not have multiple wives nor conubines (kept women), but if I wish to raise up seed to me (i.e. have children raised in righteous homes) then I will command my people to practice plural marriage via the mouth of my servants the Prophets, but if you are not commanded via the Prophets DO NOT have multiple wives or conubines.
